It's a new school year, and Greg Heffley finds himself thrust into the harsh landscape of middle school, where undersized weaklings have to share the hallways with kids who are six-feet-tall, dating and already shaving. The warts-and-all experiences of his alter ego, Greg Heffley, are recorded in a diary that Greg's mother bought him to make him more 'thoughtful'. But as Greg says, 'Just don't expect me to be all 'Dear Diary' this and 'Dear Diary' that. If she thinks I'm going to write down my 'feelings' or whatever in here, she's crazy'.
